Question asked in the House of Commons, November 4, 1912.

Sir J. D. Rees. To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will state how long the Government proposes to give the Chinese Government for complying with its engagements as regards the cessation of the poppy cultivation before it proceeds to withdraw from an agreement, onerous and expensive to the Indian into taxpayer, which it has no sufficient reason to think that the Chinese will effect.
